Today’s Authentic Business Revolution telesummit call was with Sugar Mama, Richele Henry, a holistic health coach who supports women to break free from emotional eating and body bashing so they can feel confident and comfortable in their own sexy skin. The following is a wrap up of some of the information Richele shared with us on the call. To hear all the amazing information and tips Richele shared, be sure to sign up for the summit (it’s free). Her recording will be available for 24 hours.

When you’re not eating right, exercising or taking care of yourself properly, sometimes your business suffers because you’re not able to think clearly or have the energy you need to work.

That’s why I wanted to interview “Sugar Mama” Richele Henry on how to boost energy, lose weight and feel fantastic.

The first thing I asked her was:

How can someone boost their energy so they feel fantastic?

“Each person’s body is unique and has a different set of needs,” Richele says, defining a term known as “bioindividuality.”

Richele’s 3 steps for boosting energy include:

  1. Non-Negotiable Core Practices Surrounding Food, Fitness and Self-Care—Richele recommends discovering what your non-negotiable self-care practices are (things you can’t not do) and then do them every day. Whatever makes the most impact for you.

So, for example, maybe you can’t not shop for healthy food or maybe you need to move your body in some way. Whatever works for you, do it.

  2. Setting Loving Boundaries Around Toxic Foods, People and Activities—toxins drain you of energy, Richele says. So it’s important to keep a loving distance from these things. For example, Richele has set a loving boundary with sugar and hasn’t eaten any in almost 3 years!
  3. Accountability Around Your Non-Negotiable Core Self-Care Practices—it’s hard to keep yourself accountable for the things you say you’re going to do. That’s when an accountability partner comes in. This person can help you stay on track and nudge you when you get off course.

When you follow these three steps, you can reclaim your energy!

Of course these steps brought up another question for me:

What if you’re constantly craving one of those “toxic foods?” How do you conquer the cravings?

Richele says you have to set the distance that you need from the toxic item. You don’t necessarily have to give it up forever, but you shouldn’t eat it very often. Sometimes you can’t eat the toxic food at all, it just depends on you and how you’re affected by it.

For example, Richele has sworn off sugar in all its forms because she can’t function normally when she’s eating sugar. For her, sugar is a toxic food.

When she does get a craving for something sugary, she uses this 5-step process to help conquer the craving:

1) Check In With Your Body

Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and just roll your shoulders forward and backward for a minute. Then put one hand on your belly and on over your heart and ask yourself: “What is it you’re needing in this moment?”
2) Breathe

As you listen for the answer to come, breathe in and out. Some additional questions you can ask are:

  • are you physically hungry?
  • is this emotional hunger?
  • is there something you’re feeling that you don’t want to be feeling?
  • if you could have anything right now to comfort you, what is it you need?

Continue to breathe through this questioning process.

3) Drink Some Water

Many times cravings are just dehydration in disguise, so drink some water and see how you feel after.

4) Move Your Body

Moving your body allows you to tune into your body and the messages its communicating to you. Do some stretches, bounce up and down a little bit and continue to breathe.

5) Check In Again

Ask:

  • how are you now feeling in this moment?
  • are you still present to the craving?
  • are you physically hungry? If so, what’s the most nourishing thing for your body that you can eat?
  • can you eat this food without feeling guilt or stress?

If you answer “no” to that last question, choose something else to eat that you won’t feel guilt or stress over.

If you answer “yes,” eat the food mindfully, slow down, chew and savor every bite.

If, on the other hand, you’ve discovered through this process that your hunger is emotional, ask yourself: what do I really need in the moment? Talk to yourself, asking questions, until the answer comes.

Following this process will help you figure out what triggers your cravings. For example, Richele tends to get cravings when she’s overwhelmed or bored.

So Richele gave us two amazing processes for boosting our energy and reducing cravings. But I still had some more questions.

I wanted to know:

What’s the essential ingredient that gives you an irresistible glow that attracts people?

and

How can we use this ingredient?

To find out what the essential ingredient is and how to use it, be sure to listen to the recording. It’s free for the next 24 hours, and then you can get an MP3 recording of it plus a whole lot more by upgrading to a Gold or Silver pass.
